Default Wondering.....

Thinking about some silly things....
Why do I have no problem figuring out a 'pricking' for Torchon Lace, but
cannot for the life of me figure out a crochet or knitting diagram or
chart?
Why does my mother claim to be allergic to wool, yet she had scads and
scads of cashmere sweaters in the 50's? She also had a coat that she
called Mouton... which was just a fancy pronunciation of Mutton, which is
lamb....
why................
Noreen
who thinks silly things when she's overstressed and overtired.....

Don=B4t know, dear Noreen, but can say that DH can read airplane gauges=20
(he=B4s not a pilot!), use four or five computers at the same time (I=B4v=
e=20
seen that!), read and use the most complicate technical directions (in=20
three languages) but... he can=B4t read clocks (apart digital ones)! He=20
has to ask me!
Why? Who knows...

I have also a friend who is a very appreciated doc but can=B4t read train=
s=20
timetables!

I am sure that each of us has a little "program bug" LOL

Allergy is a "funny" thing, changing during life, it comes when it it=20
wants :-(

You are right. I had a lawyer friend who couldn't tell left from right and
when she was learning to drive had to have notes on the dashboard of the
car. As for allergies, I started with allergic asthma around 13 years ago.

Not only can allergies come on at any time, but when people say they are
allergic to wool, it is often the chemicals used to process the wool that cause
the problems, and I am sure that these have changed a lot over the years.

That makes sense -- and it explains why 30, 40 years ago, I couldn't wear
wool, or at least the wool garments my aunt would make for me -- I wouldn't
sneeze or anything, but it would itch and make my skin turn red, and it was
SO uncomfortable. These days, I'm amazed at how soft so many of the wools
are, and I'm sure it does have something to do with the processing.

Not to mention that cashmere comes from goats, not sheep. My skin knows the
difference. While I love and can wear even the coarsest of wools with ease,
mohair sets my skin on fire and cashmere is itchy.

Gee, you people have inspired me to try wool again, I thought that once
allergic to it, I always would be. Back in the late 50's early 60's my hand
became a mess from using wool. Now, I'll have to try it again.

Hugs,

Nora
