What Batting Do You Think....
I am ready to baste a quilt/wall hanging. It is 58" X 66". It will NOT be
used as anything other than a wall hanging and not washed all that much. What batting do you think would work well? I want something that does not have to be quilted too closely together (I was figuring every 6" to 8" probably) since the theme of the quilt doesn't lend itself to a lot of quilting. I'm also not sure if I want a high or low loft (I don't know if that matters all that much in a case like this but I imagine a high loft would need a lot of quilting) so feel free to give me pros and cons on either or each. Thanks for your input. Nana |

My all time favorite batting for hand quilting is Hobbs Polydown. It is a low loft (best for hand quilting) polyester that quilts beautifully, has a wonderful drape, and feels like a soft cotton cloud. Since it is a binded poly, you can quilt farther apart if you like. It is also available in a dark color for darker quilts. I don't like higher loft battings for hand quilting. it's just too difficult to "needle" and get decent stitches.
