OT Toasting the new year

At our small get together last night for NYE we (about a dozen people) all
had to come up with a toast for midnight. Here are some of the oldies but
goodies quoted.


May our troubles in the New Year be as short-lived as most of our
resolutions will be.

May we slide through the new year with all the splinters facing the right
way.

May the best of the past year be the worst of the new year.

May we all be together to make the same silly toasts for the next new year.

May we all live as long as we want to, and want to as long as we live.

May we all be blessed with one new good friend this year.

May we all have enough to meet our needs, but not so much that we cease to
strive.

May our doctors see us only on the golf course.

May we be remembered by all our friends and not thought of at all by the ATO
(tax office) and other troublesome government agencies.

May we all be granted five minutes peace and contentment every day of the
coming year - for that is much.



And my favourite, because it raised a laugh and stopped us getting too
solemn and sombre -

May our (neighbour's - not mine) new kitten learn the difference between the
furniture and the scratching post real soon.
