Default Anodize silver guitar strings?

I want to dye some paterns onto a set of guitar strings. Clearly the
strings will be vibrating and moved a lot so I can not paint on them.
What would be the best way to apply colors to them? A metal dye,
anodizing, etc...

I can pickup strings coded in brass, silver or platenum but I dont
know how pure they would be.

thanks
