Default Delurking and going to Dallas!

Hi,
I just wanted to introduce myself. I've been away from RCTN for a few
years, but I'm finding time to get back here now occasionally as I've
started stitching again. I enjoy cross stitching, and I've done some
knitting and crocheting, but not for awhile due to time and other priorities
(although I'd love to start a new project). I have a DH and 2 cats, we live
in Washington State. For Christmas, my DH is giving me a trip to a CATS
Stitching Festival! I've picked Dallas because the time was good, and it
seemed the easiest to get to (right at the airport). Now I have to decide
on classes (got my list going, checking it (more than) twice). I can't wait
and am so excited! This will be my first solo "vacation" trip away from DH
(we usually go to WDW). I've been on short trips for work, but not
pleasure. I am looking forward to meeting a lot of new friends and having
fun stitching and learning new things. And SHOPPING!!!

Anyway, just wanted to say "Howdy" and kind of jump in here and "meet" some
of you before I go to Dallas. Anyone else going?

Debbie

If I'm in town, I'll probably stop by the show. :-)

Ooooooooooh! I have about a zillion Frequent Flyer miles on an airline that
uses DFW as a hub, which means it's cheaper for me to get there than to the one
closer to me (where I'd have to use a different airline).

Will have to find out whether I can use my miles for a ticket to NY with a
two-day layover in DFW for the "price" of a ticket with a two-hour layover.

That depends entirely on the airline, and it's program. It also will depend
on seasons, blackout dates, and most importantly the number of miles you're
willing to throw at the projec At 2 days, what you are referring to is a
"stopover" rather than a "layover". It's going to cost more miles, possibly
up to twice as many as a straight connection through. So be prepared when
they quote you mileage!

UH OH!! I just went to the site and checked the dates for Dallas, and I think
I might be in some serious trouble VBEG. I'm already going to be in Dallas
from the 16th through the 22nd for another conference.. it might not be such a
big deal to stay for an extra couple of days... lol

(And then Hershey's not till October, so I'll have more stash cash by then!!)

Well, Howdy right back to you from another Deb in Virginia. I've got
a DH and three cats. Both DH and I cross stitch. The cats don't
stitch because they find it hard to hold the needle, but they do try
to help "sort the floss". LOL

You won't be seeing me in Dallas, but I sure wish I could be there.

Hi Deb!
I would get more stitching done if, every time I sit down, I didn't have a
cat jump in my lap. 'Course, they are precious and I try to let them have
"their time". If they aren't "helping" on my lap, they are "supervising" on
the back of the couch behind me. Either way, I incorporate some of them
(read: fur) into my work. That way, they'll be with me 'furever' (sorry
couldn't resist).

I think all of us with furry kids stitch a little fur into our
projects. I know I do. It is really hard to avoid.
