Default Chocolate Coffe Cup Cake

Okay now, this could really be dangerous. Bert's cousin sent this to us and
we are dying to try it. Sounds too good to be true.

Steven
Alaska

5 Minute Chocolate Mug Cake

1 Coffee Mug
4 T flour (not self-rising)
4 T sugar
2 T baking cocoa
1 Egg (or sub)
3 T milk
3 T oil
3 T chocolate chips (optional) Yeah, right! Optional my foot!
Small splash of vanilla

Add dry ingredients to mug and mix well.
Add the egg and mix throroughly.
Add milk and oil and mix well.
Add chocolate chips and vanilla and mix.

Put mug in Microwave and cook for 3 minutes (1000 Watt microwave).

The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't worry. Allow to cool
a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.

As the person who sent this wrote, "And why is this the most dangerous cake
recipe in the world? Because now we are all only 5 minutes away form
chocolate cake at any time of the day or night!"

Forwarded immediately to my sister who plays to an enthusiastic crowd. She
cooks for a big family of guys who will try anything. I'll let you know how
it goes. Thanks, Steve. Polly

i wonder if you could make it mocha by using less cocoa powder and adding
the same amount of instant coffee?
i had my doubts about so much cocoa powder with so little flour so checked
round the net and seems this is one of those that have the gooey middle,
sort of a mud cake. works for me.
tho i reckon it might need a big old dollop of whipped cream, yogurt, ice
cream, creme fraiche or similar.

Do take note that the cooking instructions are for a 1,000 watt microwave.
Unfortunately, we have one that can petrify anything in 10 seconds. If
you're saddled with one of these monsters, you might want to back off to 7
power . . . or something. Polly

We have had our current microwave for ... oh about six years now. I
have yet to figure out how to tone it back to less than petrification
level. But for this little cup of cake I'm going to try. I swear I'm
making this for myself tomorrow. I sat and watched DH have a huge
sausage on a bun with all the trimmings and a big cup of frozen yogurt
with strawberry topping while I took a turkey wrap apart and ate the
dry turkey, bit of lettuce and the one slice of cheese and threw away
the wrap (think cardboard). I've been eating like that for weeks now.
No, I have n't lost any weight. Yes, I've increased my activity.
Walking a lot. Other stuff. So, the darned weight can just sit on my
fat tummy and backside one more day and let me have a nummy chocolate
cake.

And Steve, you're right -- chocolate chips are NOT optional. Every.

Sunny,
not all microwaves have adjustable power levels.
mine does and to cook on less than 100%, i set the time i want first, then
hit the power button, then pick that number (if i want 50%, i hit the 5, 70%
hit the 7 etc), then i hit start.
mine runs a bit, then nothing, then runs a bit, then nothing, etc til the
time runs out.
i reckon it is going at 100%, then allows the food to settle down, then
100%, then food settles down.
thus it really isnt cooking nonstop but in fits and starts, if that makes
sense.
you can hear mine as it starts and stops thru the time i set for it.
i could have that all wrong but seems how it works to me.
so if you've got a power button on yours, see if that works.
set the time, then hit 'power', then hit what number you fancy for % of
power, then start button.
if that aintagonnaworkforya, how about google'n your machine brand/model
number to see if there is an online manual with the instructions for use.
thats my best idea.
good luck,
j.
i'd hate anyone to go without a yummy pudding (what we call dessert here,
whatever that might be) cuz the old m/w refuses to behave, lol

I tried this a couple of weeks ago and found that it took 2 minutes at 800w.

I used a small bowl just in case it overflowed.

Sorry Steven - but could you say whether the 'T' is teaspoon or
tablespoon? I am assuming it is teaspoon, because of the capacity of a
coffee mug! but I have been known to be wrong about things in the
kitchen!!

Good question, Pat. Our Home Ec teacher forced us to learn stuff like " 16
tablespoons = 1 cup" and T = tablespoon. If that is so (and I have never
tested the cup equivalent myself), you'd be right up at the cup brim.
Probably. Polly
