Great Idea Mirjam! I have also been noting different books that others have
been mentioning here.

Like I said - I LOVE to read - I just never to know WHAT to read - KWIM? I
am always up for suggestions!

Sarah, i do not know what you study ,
but probably your studies have some book lists that would add to your
subject. As much as i appreciate , book lists given by Tv
personalities like Oprah, if you are such a strong wiled person , why
not go to your public library and discuss your interests with one of
the librarians , she / he might give you a list of books , either
classical , professional , or contemporary that will fit your needs or
appetite for reading. The maker of such list might give you a more
ballanced list and knowing what you have already explored , might show
you new roads, than sticking to a list More general for all likle the
Tv personality`s list.
You might of course also go to the libraray index catalog and sort out
books by subjects. I would advice you to widen your reading ,
sideways, meaning if you read a novel about a period , why not add at
least one History book that deals with that period. Or some other
realated Literature, this will really widen your horizon. Remeber the
wonderful expression ,`She is reading for a degree in .....`
best of luck

I stuck up for myself! Actually my reading interests vary - I LOVE

reading
but since most of my friends don't have any of the same interests that I
do - I have to go on other's advice

I have gone through 8 of Oprah's titles so far. Right now I am about

2/3rds
thru "The Corrections" by Johnathon Franzen. Next on my list is "Mother

of
Pearl" by Melinda Haynes My goal is to get thru her old list of books

by
the end of the summer.

Like I mentioned before - I'm a strong willed person

well then she must have unsubbed - cause she was there when I posted the
original note.

No, sorry, have definately not unsubbed.

If I am not on the list it is because I was removed by others.

BTW, if Mindy refers to me in the weedpatch again, please ask her to

remember
I'm Caryn not Karen!

Don`t say "shared" where MLI can read it, Meredith - you`ll likely end up
being sued! ROFLMAO!

I don't understand why wanting information isn't a legitimate purpose.
Just because someone doesn't like all of her works doesn't mean that
they don't like some and that they can't gain from participating in the
group.

If you are there to learn and share then great! I look forward to

WTF?

I never said people spied in the group. I said they SHARED. One of

her
reasons for setting up the group, as I recall, hum, let me look . . .

Better
than other groups because my messages will stay
for a long time and you can go back and reread the beans
I have spilled!

Yes. You get information from there first. What good is information

if
it
can't be shared? I read about this angel coming for what seemed

MONTHS .
.
. and was incredibly disappointed it is another rerun.

But I'm not spying. Hoping is a good word, that eventually she'll do
another good piece of work, one that I can buy and be proud to have.

But
not in six years, at least.

"sunflower" wrote in message

That's even sadder - what is the purpose of that? To be a member of

a
group
you have no use for - JUST to spy?

You'd be surprised at how many of the faithful are willing to

share

group.

uh - and I apologized - so if you were banned how would you

know
that?

Yes, I do suspect she would be surprised!

A lot of my neighbors where I live are over 80; heck, Florida is Senior
Citizen haven!! Many of them hold hands so that:
1. They don't lose their spouse, who may wander off, or
2. One holds the other up!!

LOL but true!

In fact, because of the two things one connects with a vagina,
penetration and delivery of a baby, I would have thought that a vagina
might quite regularly come up as conversation between women.

Just a thought - between women.

Of course the men here may want to penetrate this topic with a comment or
two of their own. VBG

I was just going to comment that they`ve all kept a very low profile lately!
Hope we haven`t scared them off - hey Fred, Jim, Brian - we`re quite
harmless really - only having a laugh and acting like kids! " Don`t be
fright" as that comedian used to say, whose name I can`t remember).
Personally I put it down to the heat - full moon is long gone.

I'm always so amazed at the speed he reads a thousand page book. It doesn't
matter what the topic. He has a great mind. To coin a phrase in "A Beautiful
Mind, "You are the reason, ou are all my reasons." That's how I feel about my
husband. I also relate deeply to Bridges of Madison County. It's that kind of
love we share. He's my Robert Kincaid, which is the part his favorite actor
played, Clint Eastwood.

Sorry, I just woke up and I am usually very swooning in the morning about my
life!

I sure can't do that! It helps that I now have the right glasses

My husband. He not only reads at an amazing rate, he can take a book on
Microsoft XP Pro, with what, a thousand or more pages of nothing but technical
jargon and read and comprehend it in a few days.

I read very slowly. I know, no matter what point in my life, young or where I
am today at 47, I could never be a mother to a toddler, go to school full time,
take care of my home and child, work at a business, stitch, go online for many
hours AND read five books a week. Even if they were only an inch thick.

Have you ever read anything written by The Dalai Lama? A half inch book could
take me a month to read. I have to read each page so many times before I get a
slight glean of what he teaches. I found that sort of reading profound.

I also read novels. I'm not on a reading jag right now.

Actually, I could easily do that in fewer than 10 hours a week, assuming
they're paperbacks and less than 1" thick. However, I haven't yet met
anyone who reads quite as fast as I do.
