you might wish to first decide how you define electrum. Historically, the word
meant an alloy of silver and gold. Generally, it would be a mostly silver
alloy, with a silver or only pale yellow color, with less gold in it that
actual karat golds. Beyond that, the percentage of gold is not actually
specified. Often, it was just a naturally occuring alloy of the two, in
whatever proportions nature happened to mix gold with silver.

In more recent years, the word has been used to market silver jewelry with an
often very thin gold electroplate over the silver. This differs from most gold
electroplated costume jewelry in that most such wares are not a silver item
plated with gold, but rather a base metal such as bronze, brass, or tin/zinc
based white metals. Gold plated over silver allows one to have an item with
gold color, that is valued as silver, and is precious metal throughout. But
it's got it's limits. Often the gold layer is quite thin, and won't last all
that long, though any decent jeweler, if they happen to have some gold plating
solution around, could restore the gold plating easily enough.

If you have trouble finding what you wish, and want this latter definition of
"electrum", then find the ring you wish in sterling silver, and have the ring
gold plated by a local jeweler. If you wish the original definition, then I'd
guess any custom jeweler who does casting, could make it for you, once you
describe the proportions of gold and silver you wish. This is likely to cost
considerably more, by the way, than the first option...

According to one definition (http://tinyurl.com/22r6w), electrum is the
following: "A naturally occurring alloy of silver and gold. The earliest coins
of ancient Asia Minor and many Byzantine issues were struck in this metal."

So, you could go out and buy a bunch of ancient coins, and have your ring cast
from them.

Great idea Abrasha!
Email Frank through http://www.albany.net/~fr/ and tell him you are
NOT interested in the coins for numismatic value - just the electrum
alloy itself. See what he can do for you. He helped me with a jewelry
project once. No other connection, blah, blah. Keep his correspondence,
take some photos before and after the casting. Voila real electrum ring
now with 'provenance'.
