Default OT Lyme Disease, anyone?

I have just been diagnosed with Lyme Disease. I've been in a lot of
pain for months and finally have an answer. Has anyone here had it, or
a family member maybe. What were your experiences, how long did it
last, do you feel better, etc. Darn ticks!!!!!

No advice, but have some ((((((Gentle Hugs)))))) to perk you up a bit!

I don't have Lyme disease but it is common in my area. My neighbor has it
and my former DIL has the disease, also a former co-worker. I was one of
the folks that decided to get the preventative shots. They turned out to
have their own problems.
I hate ticks also, never saw one until I moved here. The back neighbor has
chickens that he allows to free range and they are doing a good job of
keeping the ticks under control. Just hope avian flu doesn't spread here.
I wish you well getting the Lyme under control. Hugs!

Denise:
A friend in the Hudson Valley has LD a few years back. She went
to a LD specialist. You can probably find one in your area too.
She is okay now, but it took a while to 'cure' even though hers
was not especially advanced. Get well hugs on the way!

Denise, I emailed you the Patient Handout on Lyme Disease from
MDConsult. This is good, solid, understandable information that should
give you a strong foundation of understanding Lyme. From that, you can
ask your doctor good questions. It was much too long to post here.

DS had a bulls-eye rash on his back a few years ago. His primary MD
thought it was a bruise and wanted to just watch and take blood in 2
months. I mentioned it to his allergist when I called about DD's meds,
he insisted that I bring DS in to see him immediately. He said that
the rash was diagnostic for Lyme, couldn't understand why his primary
MD wouldn't treat it, and gave DS a month of amoxicillin. The risk of
a month of amoxicillin was far less than the risk of Lyme, especially
since DS is prone to headaches anyway. DS has a different primary MD
now (we had had previous problems with him, this was just the last
straw).

My husband had it maybe 15 years ago. He had a case of the hives at the same
time and they couldn't figure out what was wrong with him but he was going
downhill fast, liver tests were bad. He finally had the bull's-eye rash and
they did a tick test. A dose of a penicillin type medicine cleared
everything up.
