Press & Seal
OK folks,
I was obviously missing during the major information about the value of Press & seal and what its value is for transfers. So I need to ask all the Who, what, when, where's and how's????? juliasb |

Julia - I use p & s when I want to quilt a single block pattern that I find
in a book. I trace it on the p & s as many times as I have blocks to quilt. Then, each piece of p& s goes on the block all positioned nicely and then I quilt! I tear off the residue quite easily and go on to the next block. I am doing all this on my HobbyQuilter/SuperQuilter frame setup. I hate marking quilt tops for quilting and find this is an easy way to do it. By the time my hand has finished tracing each motif, it can easily freemotion quilt the block. Clear as mud? Laurie G. Julia,
I saved most of the tips & comments, (plus some other ideas from self & friends) that were offered in the newsgroup & have them in a Word document. I'd be happy to send it to you if you would like. Do you use your scissors to cut the Press and Seal? I have a TERRIBLE time
using the serrated edge on the box. By the time I get the sheet off, it is all crumpled and a big mess. "Laurie G." wrote in message om... Sort of. I forget that the tear off is opposite of regular plastic wrap.
Press & Seal tears off of the lid of the box and not the bottom of the box. If you just grab the edge of the plastic and slowly start to tear it, it comes off a bit better. Laurie G. Hullo Kathyl
When I was using it repeatedly, doing a fairly large quilt, in small square-to-width sized pieces, I developed a knack of doing this. It involved holding the box up in the sir with my left hand and tearing quickly with my right hand - using the air to keep the cut-off piece from sticking to itself. I think I started with a sharp tug on the serrated edge. It *could* have looked a bit funny, from outside the window!? .. Thanks Patti! I'll try that next time. I can't even get it off to cover my
leftovers...its original function! "Patti" wrote in message ... I was just trying to figure out how I'm going to get the design onto the
background for candlewicking an embellishment. Do you think P&S would work for handquilting and/or candlewicking knots? --Heidi http://community.webshots.com/user/rabbit2b "julia sidebottom" wrote in message ... Hullo Heidi
It's definitely soft enough for handquilting. I don't know about candlewicking, I'm afraid; but it is not prone to tear every second, so I imagine it would be possible? ..
