I use my foot pedal upside-down. It doesn't move nearly as much as
the pressure on it is different than you'd use with it right-side-
up. Give it a try- can't hurt and might help!

I'll agree with you on that thought! It's been such an up+down roller
coaster year for us.... Have quilt fabric all cut out to assemble
blocks, but somehow can't get them all put together faster....
something always comes up (good and bad). One of these days life will
settle down.

I use mine backwards. It faces the usual way but I put my toes on the
floor in front of it and press with my heel.

I rigged mine up beneath my sewing table so I could use it as a
knee-lever instead. It's *so* much better that way!

You could get a bit of plywood and attach strips of moulding or whatever
to 'trap' the foot pedal and keep it still. Mind you, attaching the
plywood to the floor could become a problem of its own, but I'd be
screwing it to the ground just to be sure.

Best of luck - I know exactly how annoying the creeping foot pedal can be!

Here's one going to try it - I do have some help with the sliding, but I
get cramp from holding my foot at a very high angle. If it works like
your other ideas, I'll be away and roaring!

Phew! Finally someone said basting, so now I don't have to feel like a
heretic for saying quilting! I love the piecing and creating tops, but
the basting and quilting parts really get to me...

I'm almost with you Claudia, except that I am beginning to like
quilting! But: basting, no. So, I thought, get someone to do it for me?
There is a professional quilter in my area who advertises that she is
quite willing to baste only, for quite a good price. Right, I thought.
Wrong! When I got it back, it was beautifully done. However, there was
one 'small' fact I had 'forgotten'. Having been done on a machine, the
stitches were machine stitches - therefore locked. They weren't (of
course) the running stitch equivalent of hand basting which can just be
pulled through, to unpick. OK the stitches are about an inch long; but
the thought of unpicking, after the quilting has kept me from quilting
this pretty little quilt for two year (it is quite large). I will do
it, but it is going to be a much larger task than I had meant it to be.
(I don't like her batting either, but that might be cured by washing).
Ho hum - shouldn't have been lazy I guess g
