Default OT - You know it's spring when....

You see a wild duck on the lawn outside the front door and go to say hello
only to discover her bending way forward and showing off about 8 babies!
Makes you go all smooshie!

Isn't it just amazing that while some of us are dreading the coming cold
months, there are others in the world looking forward to sunnier days.

Update here! Was talk of 19, just picked up the kidlets from kinder and
school and by the time I got from the school door to the car (a whopping
great 10 metres) it was like I'd just stepped out of the shower only I was
fully dressed. As DD1 says "It's bucketing down".

And here in The Old Pueblo we're looking forward to the cooler days! After
the hottest summer I can remember here, I'm actually enjoying the cool
nights. Oddly enough, I seem to do more quilting and sewing during the cool
months. I thought I would do most of my sewing during the summer, when it's
too darned hot to do anything outdoors, but instead I found it too warm to
anything except read books or watch TV and movies.

Haven't had any ducks show off their babies to me lately, but I do have a
couple of families of quail coming to visit the feeders and the water dish.
I do love to watch them!

Awww, how sweet. Wish we were looking forward to spring here instead of
winter. SNOW and COLD are bad four letter words in my dictionary. :-)

Love in Stitches,

Because we have a salt chlorinated pool and Dingley is surrounded by golf
courses and parks we get a lot of wildlife around here, mostly ducks.
FUnnily enough the two ducks I'd been shoo-ing out of our pool (because
they'd relieve themselves in it and that makes a huge mess) are the ones
bringing back their babies for swimming lessons - got a gorgeous video of
another mummy trying to encourage her babies out of the pool (the tide was a
bit low making it harder for them).

I must have really adapted to the local weather... last night we went
for a walk downtown after helping a friend that broke his thumb ligament
while trying to learn how to sky assemble some furniture in his new
apartment. We thought it was really pleasant and warm.. then learnt it
was 8 degrees C, which at home would make people run for cover! )
