Ort tassels

when i was taking the emboridery course at Madra Dubh in Ireland she
showed me a use for my orts - make tassel key rings.

my arm chair has love upholstered arms just right for parking needles
while i cut floss (if i use my pin cushion they tend to get lost in
the forest '-). i have a bead-headed straight pin poking out the end
of the arm on which i drape my orts of useable lengths. they hang down
in front of the arm so as not to tangle. when i am finished i put them
through a key ring and wrap a piece of floss around the bundle
making a tassle, knot the ends and then trim.

the different colors and threads look nice.
