Default christening gown

I just wanted to thank you Dianne, and all of you, who helped me during the
decision making on the heirloom christening gown awhile ago. I have it
finished now and the date is february 1 for the grandbaby so plenty of time.
The Swiss batiste was a good fabric. i would be happy to work with that again.
It was a fun project and thanks for helping me get it launched !

PICTURES!! We want pictures!!! Hooray and hugs for your
accomplishment. Yes, Swiss batiste is the way to go. A dream to work
with. How much hand work did you do? Lots of embroidery? Lots of hand
sewing? Or, rely on machinework? ribbonwork? Tell us more.

Back out of the bed and on the computer! (recovering from the flu and I had a
flu shot too !!! Guests from 3 states must have brought something new !)
I have already passed the gown on to the daughter so she is responsible for it
!!
I ended up doing cross designs up the front and around the collar--- made a
cross blanket and little crosses on the lace socks! There is a little slip with
her monogram embroidered and then the gown and then the coat and then the
bonnet and then the blanket.... I ended up doing handwork -- it was the best
way to go and not sorry for the time. I did attach the handmade cluny trim
which I had to wait for by machine cuz i saw no future to that amount of time.
I went through 27 yards of the stuff and attaching it didn't seem time
responsible. The little bodice has over 120 tiny tucks on it and that I did do
my machine with my tucker (YES my Bernina sold one and I bought it !!! It made
it absolutely perfect. I did the vine work down those..The little Amish style
bonnet had over 19 tucks just on it too. It is not the most elaborate one I
have seen but that is how the mama wanted it and she wanted sophisticated and
clean lines so we did it. The dang thing is 3 times longer than that baby.
Hope they don't lose her!!!

You did some handwork. Sounds like a lot of it. g Good. That so
personalizes something. And the use of tucks is SO classic! This
sounds precious. Wish I could see it. What an outfit!!

What material for the blanket?

Well the blanket was worked from a ecclesiastic piece so milled to have a good
front and back. I believe it was an altar cloth piece. It was just luck I
found it. I just edged it and embroider worked with what was there. Fun
times....

What material for the blanket?
