Those are just exquisite, Mirjam. Thank you for letting us see them. I
just wish I could see them in real life.

I bet in real life they're just exquisite. I can just imagine the light
hitting the metallic threads and the way the colors sing together! That
only comes across in shadowed form in photographs.

thanks for sharing, Mirjam!

Beautiful stuff, mirjam. Makes me rethink the demands on costume
designers working with biblical themes, trying to ger some
authenticity to the wardrobes! BenHur immediately comes to mind. Have
to go back and watch that film again, with an eye to wardrobe.

Thanks for the link.

You are welcome
the Israel Museum in Jerushalyim has many wonderful examples, Also
there are many researches done on Costumes and all related materials
in Ben-Zvi Institute for the Study of Jewish Communities in the East.
soon they will have an English translation
http://www.ybz.org.il/?CategoryID=160 on their site
i just bought a book

Garments with a message , Ethnography of Jewish Wear in Islamic lands,
By Aviva Muller-Lancet ,
Ben Zvi Institute , Jerusalem 2010

If you are interested in Authentic Clothes there are some very
interesting books around ,,,
But one should take care to make a difference between real research
and `westernized` point of view.
