Default A tale of Woe: Part 2. The final solution

I have been experimenting with construction methods for these bags,
and have come up with some creative solutions that will allow me to
use my Bernina treadle. I have in place a new Bernina that I have used
as a back-up electric machine for awhile, and It has now been
converted from electric to treadle only. I think one of the problems I
was having with the old and trusted machine is that It had gotten out
of time due to subjecting it to harsh abuse. The new machine that is
hooked up to the treadle, is flawless, when used on less than
gargantuan sized seams. I picked up another 1008 to use as an electric
machine, so the old treadle one will be relegated to backup status,
when it is returned from the shop. I am making a large book bag out of
canvas and heavy cotton twill, and by the strategic placement of the
seams and other methods, I have been able to complete the major sewing
elements, with no serious problems. Fresh needles every now and then
help when sewing through the canvas, too. So Far, so Good! I will post
a couple of pics when I am done with the bag, as it is really kind of
nice, if I do say so myself. It is Girly, so I won't be using it,
(Lois grabbed it), but I might make a Man Bag using the same design
for myself.
