Now this is the neatest idea,,,,, went down to check my broom , so
that i can fly over the country with Pamjam and show her the beautiful
sights ,, Ps Several thousand birds are expected to fly over this week
, on their way from Africa - Europe ,, it seems to all experts that
Winter has mooved a month Forward , it come a month later and leaves
later , Birds have mooved their Flight schedules as well .....

Pam, you are SO funny!
I'm imagining you firing up your broom to fly over to Mirjam's!

In Israel most house have Tiles that are made of Ground stones with
some sort of Cement. There are a variety of colors . We chose the more
`traditional` ones that look like "Quaker Porridge" , which is easy to
match , restful to the eye and doesn`t show every drop of water. In
the Living room they are tiles of 30 x 30 cm , and in the other rooms
20 x 20 cm , very easy when you want to measure threads or such !!!!

Stone floors? I'm trying to imagine that. Like in a castle? That's
neat. Now I want stone floors! How do you clean them?

You use a Broom to collect the dust, and than you wash them with a
special floor cloth! i know this is a local thing , when ever
Israelies travel abroad they take some of those floor cloths with
them. thay are very porous and soak up all wetness and i keep several
and when they are dirty i wash them as one big load in the machine .

Can you mop them?

Mop we actually WASH floors...

Aren't the stone floors hard on your feet?

they are very nice to have in our mostly warm climate ..
Can I come to your

house and look at your floors?

You are Welcome to come

I would love to get rid of the carpet in the living room and bedroom, and
eventually I will. Both DH & I have many allergies, and AFAIC - carpets are
just dust and dirt catchers - especially wall to wall. At least with an
area rug you can take it outside and beat it, or easily get rid of it.

Hi Shelagh! Dirt is very easy to see on hardwood floors. I never
realized how dirty floors could get before I moved to a hardwood house.
Your right, carpets hide alot of the dirt and dust and you can never
get it totally cleaned up. I love my area rugs because, as you
mentioned, you can dust them outside. Or wash them if you have too.
I've had to wash a few of mine because my son peed on them when we were
potty training him. But we have 3 huge area rugs for the bedroom,
living room, and dining room. They're too big to wash but they were
$19.99 Walmart specials so we can replace them if they get too yucky.
They look just as nice as the $100 rugs that I can't afford!

Shaelagh , 3 of the carpets are old , 1 we got when married , from My
Husband Grandparents, 2 are like a 100 + years old. They are a bit
worn but do their jobs, They are easy to shake , vacum and every
several years go to the cleaners , I also clean them with Viniger.
In other parts of the house i have rag rugs , Home mades by me and
Bought ones , THIS ARE GREAT ,, you can shake them , use both sides ,
AND WASH IN YOUR WASHING MACHINE !!!!!!

Hi Pamjam,

I love my hardwood floors through the house. We had wall to wall at our
first home and never again. That's another reason I love my swiffer, so
easy to use. I do have scatter rugs though and from Kmarts, but
Walmarts are just as good.

Hugs,

Nora

Thanks Mirjam, that gave me a good chuckle. We call the area at the top of
the stairs the landing (no idea why) and I had a moment's pause before I
realised you meant airport runway landing lights and not upstairs lights!
Love & higs
Christine

Hello,

I made my daughter a lacey top with this yarn about 7 years ago. It
wore relatively okay and it definitely got softer after washing--
It turned out perfect as she outgrew it before it could really start to
show any real signs of wear. I don't recall it really shrinking a lot
though--maybe because it was a lacier style?

You know what else is easy and nice for hardwood; I have a little
battery powered sweeper from Eureka. It's excellent. It's very light,
no cord to worry about, and cleans very well. I use it about 20 times a
day because my son is so messy.
