Red face GC93 Garter Carraige

Hi, I have just bought a used Garter carraige. It knits fine , but it emits a buzzing type noise (possibly a stripped gear) every few stitches and after about 40 rows it stopped mid row. I pressed the button to get it going again and after a few attemps it starts to knit again, now it will only knit a short row or two before stopping again. Any advice on how to remedy this please. Thanks Peter

Default GC93 Garter Carraige

Hello Peter,

I am a novice at garter carriage knitting, but I have noticed that mine
makes a buzzing noise if I don't have it seated on the needle bed just
right. The poor thing still tries to knit, but will eventually bog
down. I am embarrased to tell you that I have also had the same sound
when I accidently put the needle in upside down. And it actually did
knit a few stitches, bless it's poor heart. Considering how many times
I have switched it on when I had done something wrong in the setup,
it's a wonder that it works at all, but it's still going and going just
beautifully. I hope you can get yours purring along too. If it really
does have major problems, I can recommend Dr. Frank, the GC specialist,
at Northtipton (http://www.northtipton.com) They are wonderful folks
to deal with. Dr. Frank's wife Cathie is president of the Carolina
Machine Knitters Guild as well. http://www.carolinasmkg.com

Hope you are up and running soon!

Peggy in NC
