Wow, I can understand why purchasing anything to organize your stash would
be cost prohibitive. Nice stash! -- Boca Jan Florida - Land of the Hurricanes boca_jan1atyahoodotcom http://community.webshots.com/user/BocaJan wrote in message ps.com... I like to keep my fabric in fan folds. That way it's easy to cut off
just the bit I want without having to unfold the entire length and without having to flop a little "bolt" (which is what you get when you use those gadgets we're looking at right now) around and around to get enough off of it for cutting. Works for me, but of course everyone is different. -- Sandy in Henderson, near Las Vegas sw.foster1 (at) gmail (dot) com (remove/change the obvious) http://www.sandymike.net |

I looked at the website where those "fabric board" things were sold. Looks
like a lot of buck and no bang......and wasted space as everyone else has pointed out. Did anyone see "The Living with Ed" show on HGTV, Monday night, where he toured the Ultimate Green Home? That woman's quilting room was to die for. All her fabric was stored in clear plastic drawers, folded and sorted to look like rainbow gradations, solid from floor to ceiling, wall to wall. The wall was angled so it got no direct light but her sewing/work table faced a floor to ceiling window looking out on the court yard and pool. I wish there was a picture of that somewhere to see it again. Talk about organized stash!! She had a few dozen jars all with sorted buttons, shelves of thread in rainbow array, every tool and gadget hung or displayed in a beautifully artistic way. The room it's self was a piece of art. The only thing I wondered about; No where in that room was a WIP or a quilt or in the entire tour of the house did you see a quilt or any type of quilting anything; not a lap quilt, bed quilt, table runner, pillow, wall hanging, not even a pot holder......nuthin, no quilting did I see anywhere. Maybe she was afraid to muss up the "professionally designed by the architect", quilt studio. Val |

Looks pricy-I'd have to pay more than $200 to supply my stash. And it would
take up more room, besides. I like how I've arranged my stash. I've got pics on my Webshots. The only thing I changed recently was adding room-darkening roller shades to the front of the stash shelving to prevent my fabric from fading. Oh, and more fabric (but that goes without saying). I have been looking, trying to find pictures of the quilt studio in that
house...but I guess you had to see the tour on TV. DARN Although I have seen some pretty awesome studio pictures from you folks on RCTQ -- Boca Jan Florida - Land of the Hurricanes boca_jan1atyahoodotcom http://community.webshots.com/user/BocaJan "Sandy Ellison" wrote in message ... Howdy! Yeah, we saw that. Had to laugh, it's "green", a lot of green, bushels & baskets & dump trucks full of green--- American dollars. G http://la.greenbuildingsnyc.com/ "The article makes particular note of the Beitcher house, a lovely and laughably unaffordable home in the leafy La Mesa Drive neighborhood of upper Santa Monica (average home price, per Zillow: $2,152 per square foot! And the Beitcher house is 4,000 square feet. You do the math). The Beitcher family, though, have built an awfully amazing residence. Sustainable to the core. Of course it has solar paneling, bamboo flooring (and a bamboo ceiling), and a state of the art energy-efficient heating/cooling system. Indeed, it is a ³zero energy house,² consuming no more energy than it produces. But it also has (drumrollS) denim walls. Yup, denim walls! Remnants from an old jeans factory! Very nice place, Valerie. It is a calm and tidy room. I
like your cutting table. Could you give some info about that, please? Brand and/or store? Thanks, PAT Valerie in FL wrote: Looks pricy-I'd have to pay more than $200 to supply my stash.
