Default Stupid safety warning!

We just got a little tv for the bedroom, and Mike was reading the notice on
the back of the remote control:

Not Dishwasher Safe.

Duh?

I imagine thats right. :-)
Can you imagine the audience that notice is directed to? Its hard to believe
that anyone who might be tempted to clean the remote in the dishwasher would
be able to read the warning.

ROFL. That's what I think about most safety warnings, they're preaching to
the converted.

As a wise, old spider once said: "People are idiots."

The warning is there because some moron probably tried it.

There's a comedian whose main shtick is reading safety warnings and then
saying "it' there because some idiot has done it". Then he describes what
might have happened to make the company put the warning on it.

do a Google search on "stupe product warnings" and you'll find enough to
keep you laughing all day!

When I was a student at IU in Bloomington, I was taking folklore courses
(yup, you can get a degree in folklore, I almost did!) there was a whole
section of one class devoted to stupid product warnings and the folklore
around them. The funniest thing is that the true stories are even more
amazingly stupid than the folklore.

My dad was an engineering professor, and did a booming business as an expert
witness in product liability cases. The stories of human stupidity are
beyond belief, but people WILL do the most toe-curling, stomach-churning
things and then complain when they get hurt.

Which all back up my basic philosophy: "People are stupid." Present
company excepted, of course.

Not Dishwasher Safe.

LOL...proof that people will file a lawsuit for just about anything!

My two favorites...
On a bag of peanuts: Warning, may contain nuts.

On a chain saw: Do not stop blade with your hands.

And when I was child there was a brand of frozen pizza that had a typo in the
instructions, it said: Remove from box and eat frozen.

Frito's had a contest a few years ago, where you could only get a game piece
in the bag. The outside of the bag touted the contest, available only in
the bag, and then had tiny letters saying..."no purchase necessary".
