Default Knitting a Muff

Hello everyone -

First, a quick intro. I am Melinda. I am 32 years old, live with my DH and
5 DCats. As you can see from my email address, I am a quilter, but recently
I have taken up knitting. I find knitting to be a much more portable thing
to do!

I would like to make a muff/scarf/hat set for my DSIL for Christmas, but
have not been able to find a pattern that I like at all for a muff. I don't
want it to be a big frou-frou thing. I just want something soft, simple,
and cozy. But maybe I can't do that with a muff?

I did a search on Google, and found a pattern for the big fluffy type. Does
anyone have any suggestions for something a little plainer?

Thanks in advance!

- Melinda.

Sorry, Melinda, I can't help you. The only muff pattern I ever saw was quite
fluffy. But if there is one available, the folks here will find it for you!
Welceom to RCTY, BTW. I hope you will stay and post some more.

Thank you very much! I think that I understand (of course, I have to get
out a ruler to figure out just how much a centimeter is (^: ).

Just one question: If I make a pattern for the outside layer, should I make
the inside layer patterned, too, or can I just do straight knit stitch? (I
will be working in the round.)

Thank you again!!!

Hi Melinda,

There is a Fiber Trends pattern, I think it's called Winter in the City,
that is for a felted hat and muff. Both include multi-fizz, so the muff is
definitely frou-frou -- but I don't see why you couldn't make the same thing
and just leave out the multi-fizz.

I made mine with the multi-fizz, and I use it all the time, and I wasn't
sure that I would when I made it.
