Default Coats crochet nylon - Question

I had no problems using it, but you do need to crochet loosely, or else not
only do your hands hurt, but the fabric made from it is pretty stiff. It's
all worth it in the end.

Hi,
Has anyone used this successfully? I have just begun to crochet a bag with
this, and I'm finding it very hard going. I'm using a 4mm hook which is
recommended and I'm getting the correct gauge for the pattern in sc (dc

US).
This stuff is so unstretchy and firm that it's making my hands and forearm
ache to use it, even getting the hook through the top two loops is a
challenge and I'm not a tight crocheter.
Any help much appreciated,
Sue in Norfolk UK

Thanks Allaya,
I think I shall have to try and crochet looser because I like the look of
the fabric and I won't be beaten :-)

Go to a department store and see if you can find a line of crocheted purses
called "The Sak." It's the same material. That's the density you need to
shoot for.

Good luck! Don't let the nylon hold you down!

I don't know if these purses are available here, but thanks for the tip. I
have now gone up a hook size and am deliberately crocheting loosely and am
getting on much better. The fabric is still firm but not too stiff, and I
think it'll be fine. Thanks for the help.
