Default Help with elements?

I am putting the elements in a skutt 1027. I have the elements in an
now am putting the connectors to the box. I clamped the connectors to
the box wires and before I took them off I numbered the wires 1, 2, 3,
and 4.
1 going to the top element, 2 going to the same element but down one.
I got three and four on according to the sequence, but then put 1
where I should have put 2. It goes to the same element. Will it make
a difference with the switch if I leave it as is or am I going to have
to cut the connector off and put it on as numbered?

I really did not want to have to cut the connector off unless I
absolutely have to.
I know, I know pay attention right................
