Default 7 ct. Klostern and 10 ct. Betsy Ross linen

Hi, there. I am a lurker who has learned so much from this newsgroup.
I recently bought(at a terrific price) two large pieces of 7 ct.
Klostern and some 10 ct. Betsy Ross linen from a shop that is closing.
Has anyone used this fabric? If so, how many strands of DMC floss
have you used to get good coverage? On the 7 count, I've tried 6
strands (cross-stitched) and 6 strands doubled (cross-stitched). I've
also tried 6 strands doubled (half stitch). The 6 strands doubled
(cross-stitched) gives the best coverage. But, it seems bulky. I'd
appreciate advice from anyone.

Thanks so much.
