Hi there ^_^

I'm off to the States next month and I was wondering if there were any shops
in Manhattan that carry floss. Yes, just simple floss is all I'm after.
Simple things please simple minds :-)

A regular 8m skein of 6-stranded Anchor floss sets me back about $1.40 here
in Germany so I'm planning on filling the gaps in my collection while I'm in
Manhattan.

I already checked the Yellow Pages online and got a long list of craft
stores, some of whose names sound quite promising but I don't know if they
are any good. I already checked the websites of the big craft store chains
(e.g. Michael's) and other places that stock floss (like Walmart) but
they're all waaaaay out.

So, any help at all would be appreciated!
Thanks in advance :-)
Christine

Last I knew the Island of Manhattan was LNS free.

If you are willing to go to New Jersey or Staten Island you'll find some tho.

Hi Christine,
Email me off list at heathere3 at optonline.net and I'll help you
find what you need. Did you have a specific list of floss in mind? I
know the pain of living somewhere that floss is incredibly expensive
and am always willing to help out. I used to live in Queens,
currently live on Long Island, and am in Manhattan VERY often on the
weekend (Saturday and Sunday this last weekend for example)

Hi Christine - I am sorry to concur with Caryn, Manhattan is basically
floss-free. I believe that Stitches East has 60 cent DMC but I don't
think they have Anchor. Annie & Co. up in the 80's is mostly
needlepoint but you could drop her an email and ask if she carries
floss. I think she might. There is a LNS in New Jersey that's
accessible by Port Authority bus (Where Victoria's Angels Stitch) and
that's about the best I can do unless you want to email me privately
and see what we can do when you get here!

Where Victoria's Angels Stitch is a really great place!! Tawny has DMC, Anchor,
and many many other silks, overdyes, charts, too much to mention. And their
framing is Great!! come on over to Jersey for your needs!!

No Anchor floss at those chain stores. Only DMC.

And the chain stores often don't carry the full range of DMC. For
Anchor, it's mail-order, e-mail-order, or fine needlework stores. It's
the same with Kreinik.
