Maddy,

Thanks for all the great advice! I've actually been knitting since I was a
kid, and have been doing more in the last year or so, now that I'm home with
the kids, but nothing more complicated than scarfs, blankets, and a
Christmas stocking for my son! That was something, doing Fair Isle and
intarsia after years of not knitting, plus turning my first heel! Now that I
want to do things with real sizes, I've gotten the bug about getting a set
of needles. I haven't checked the thrift stores yet, but that's a good idea.
I know wood needles would get broken with two toddlers! I've been on
KnitList for a few months now and I do enjoy reading the posts...lots of
information and opinions there! I appreciate the comments about buying yarn.
I'm actually allergic to wool, so I just have to ignore the wool snobs and
buy what I can touch! And thanks for the recommendations on books! I don't
have any of those. My husband just gave me the big Vogue Knitting book for
my birthday...who knew there were so many ways to cast on!
