A question about blending Filament
Hello,
I have a friend who is stitching a project for me (he stitches much faster than I do) and I have a question about how to deal with all the specialty threads in the piece. It is the Nordic Angel by Barbara Baatz. My question is can you wash a piece after the beads, japan gold and blending filaments have been put on it? The problem with this design is that the blending filament is definately blended in with the floss as part of the design. I tried to get him to stop and give me the piece to wash before he worked with the bf, but he was faster than I thought and had already used these threads. He also did TW's Enchanter for me and that needs to be washed also, but unfortunately he did the bf and beads before I could stop him. These pieces have beads, blending filament, and gold cord. I was thinking of just using plain water and some orvus but wanted to check with the experts (all of You!!!) first. Thanks for the help! Ann |

My guess is that they will wash just fine with no damage. However,
why not get your friend to stitch a bit of doodle cloth with the beads, blending filament, specialty threads, etc., and then wash it and see what happens? HTH. Pretty piece, I have done her Angel of Romance and Angel of Fantasy. My question is can you wash a piece after the beads, japan gold and blending filaments have been put on it? Definately! Believe me Angel of Romance needed a good bath when I was done...lots of white with 032, and as it was a long term project looked it when I finished stitching it! You can wash pieces with BF in them, and even iron them. I do recommend putting a piece of unbleached muslim between it and the iron tho, just to be on the safe side. HTH! I was just reading on the blending filament yesterday (Kreinik brand). They
are washable (by hand in gentle detergent, then rinse, rinse, rinse - use cool water) and they also recommend when pressing to use a pressing cloth and not to put the hot iron directly on the filament. With beads, and blending filament in one piece, after a gentle cool water wash, I generally put a soft towel on my ironing board, then the stitched piece face down, then the pressing cloth (piece of muslin is fine) and then press. The towel on the ironing board first will help the beads to stand up instead of getting squished into the board. As always, try a test piece first to check for color bleeding!
