Paper Piecing
I used to be able to sit down, read instructions, and figure out how to do
almost anything I put my mind to. Nowadays, however, my brain has been on vacation. I sat down with a good book on paper piecing and ended up with the weirdest little shapeless piece of fabric I've ever seen in the hands of an adult. It was WAY too complicated to do from written instructions and even very good photos. I give up. I'm going to have to beg my LQS's to please do some more classes on it. They've all done them umpteen times before, but I couldn't go. There are such cute blocks and I want to do at least one paper pieced wallhanging before I die. René |

Paper Piecing
hey René,
what block were you trying? always pays to start with a simple one that you know what it should look like when done. check out this slide show doing a sq in a sq block. see if it helps you. once you work out the basics of this technique, you'll wonder what the heck was so hard, lol. http://www.cstone.net/~debra/slide/slide.htm right click on the mouse to reply, stop or go back a step at a time if you need to. see if having a block drawn, a couple of pins and a few bits of fabric with you as you watch helps, hope this helps. jeanne -- Vote B'fly for President '08 san-fran at ihug dot co dot nz nzlstar on yahoo msg'r nzlstar on webshots "René" wrote... René,
Carol Doak has a DVD that is a lesson on how to paper piece. Knowing Carol it is very, very good. G (And that is what I have heard about it too.) It is evidently even better than a class because you can see really close in what she is doing. You might check it out. I know it is available on her site, and should be available at your LQS, although they may have to order it for you. Ping Jalynne...was Paper Piecing
hiya Jenn,
SQ just finished. had breakfast, its Saturday here and we've got a huuuuge skip for all the garden waste at the rental so R has been finishing all that. still working his way thru the painting window frames inside and out, argh. better him than me. i gotta go down with him today and do some of the mindless stuff. ok, so its pretty much all mindless but i'm doing some of the smaller stuff. he cuts off the big stuff, i break it down to fill up the skip. this thing will hold up to 9cu mts. we ordered it for only 6 (they mark the 6 and 7.5 levels inside it.) but might use more. theres a mess of stuff at that house and some from here as well that we'll take down and fill it up. so looks like a long day and i'm gonna be knackered as well. dont know when i'll get back online. will catch ya when i do tho or leave an offline msg. hope your weekend didnt wear you out too much, re u'r email. i can understand why your mum was feeling like that. cant be easy to deal with all of it. i hope the girls are coping. its not fair on youngsters at all. hugz all around, jeanne -- Vote B'fly for President '08 san-fran at ihug dot co dot nz nzlstar on yahoo msg'r nzlstar on webshots "Jenn/Jalynne" wrote...
