sometimes a ribbon or accent yarn will do a good job, such as an eyelash
yarn, glittery thread, etc. These yarns have no stretch at all, and also
add a little glitz to the yarn you're using. If you want the glitz, that
is! LOL

Rayon is like any other fiber - the degree to which it will stretch is
greatly dependent on the method used to spin the yarn.

If the yarn itself is stretchy you'll obviously want something
unstretchy to support the rayon. Time for a trip to the LYS.

Stella, I used a beautiful rayon that was spun in such a way that it was
very stretchy. I knitted this thick black rayon thread and a lovely slade
grey eylash yarn into a winter scarf for my daughter in Toronto, where
they have really cold snowy winters. It worked very well.

I would say it all is depending on what you want to knit, make a sample
and try what works best for your end product. I do weave with Tencel, a
brand name for the little sister of Rayon, Lyocell. When you see the two
different yarns next to each other it is hard to see which is the Lyocell
and which is the Rayon. They are both made from wood pulp (Hemlock,
Spruce, etc). I used very fine Tencel, both in warp (double ends 36 ends
per inch) and weft and it does stay very well together. Go for a sample
and see what you need to use to stablelize it

Good luck
Els

Thanks Els! Yes, things have been a little "easier" lately, and I am able
to do more solitary things. Adam bought me a notebook computer as an
anniversary gift, and that's helped me a lot since I am able to work on
things in bed while Lammy is sleeping. All in all, I'm very happy to be
back!
