Garter Bar Sponge & Clips?

Hi, I have just purchased a garter bar for my KH910 machine. It came
with one small sponge bar and some clips. I have read through the
instructions, but no where dooes it mention what these items are for.
Can any one let me know what you use these for.

The Sponge bar and clips are used for vertical weaving

Janet Nabney's book An Illustrated Handbook of Machine Knitting, has a
very good article on the garter bar and its uses, which included the
vertical weaving.

Unfortunatley I am not sure if it is still in print.

Thank you so much for replying. I have been trying to figure out what
to do with the clips etc for days.

I have never done vertical weaving it sounds interesting, but I am
still trying to master the basic techniques. I have not used my
machine for a few years due to lack of time, and its amazing how much
you forget.
