ABC "Quiet" Book

A friend is looking for a pattern for an ABC soft book to make for her grandson. I figured someone on RCTQ is sure to know if there's one available free on-line [Googling is not helping here!]. Any hints would be much appreciated! -- Kim Grahamhttp://members.shaw.ca/kigraham Nanaimo, BC, Canada THE WORD IN PATCHWORK Did you try keepsakequilting.com? They have a few books, but I believe they are kits. Not sure if you can purchase the pattern separately. Sherry |

ABC "Quiet" Book
A couple of thoughts which may work out -
You can use the fonts on your computer to get "basic" ABC letters + Velcro dots. - applique the letters onto pages. Then use sew on Velcro dots on the empty parts of the page. Find small fabric pictures of things which begin with each letter - Cut circles - (maybe 2-1/2") & sew onto stiffened fabric (ala Heat'n'Bond - or - heavy iron on pellum facing) . Sew a "paired" Velcro dot to the back. (Then the kids can match the picture to the letter.) Found out long ago that the softer side of Velcro is easier to put (and manipulate!) on the circles! Be sure to keep a pocket sewn in to keep all the pieces in! Or - Use circles with ABCs on them to Velcro to blank pages, so the little one can keep track of which letters he's found, and can then spend his travel time looking for the letters he hasn't found yet! (Be sure to make a closeable pocket to keep all the pieces in!) Just an idea. ME-Judy "KI Graham" wrote in message news:XdHwi.59674$_d2.30911@pd7urf3no... I like this one a lot...will probably make one [or two or three] for the granddaughters. But, my friend is specifically looking for an "alphabet" book: her 3-year-old grandson is fixated on his ABCs....identifies letters EVERYWHERE...a car trip with him is punctuated by shouts of "B! I see a B!" "Q..there's a Q!" etc. etc. [Not too bad out in the country, but it wears pretty thin in the city with all the signs!] |
