Default foundation paper piecing vs english paper piecing??

Hi,

Since I saw the thread about English paper piecing, I thought I would ask:
What's the difference between
English paper piecing and foundation paper piecing? I've just started paper
piecing and the only book I have is Radiating New York Beauties, so I really
don't know a lot about it.

Thanks!

Renee

Howdy!
Cindy explains EPP:

"English Paper Piecing is a fun easy way to make complex patch work quilts
by hand. You use precut paper pieces to baste your fabric around. After
basting, the pieces are whip stitched together with the paper inside to hold
the accurate shape. Once a shape is completely surrounded by other shapes
the center paper piece can be popped out and reused."

Foundation paper piecing "is usually done on a foundation of fabric or
paper, then sewn on the machine."

Wow! Reading these two different sets of directions makes me want to try the
English version. I've done foundation paper piecing and didn't like it much.
I made several blocks with it, but couldn't imagine doing a whole quilt. I
also couldn't imagine any easy way to to a Grandma's quilt, and now I can.
