Default Horse's tail

Anyone ever hear of a "horse's tail"....used by electricians to slow or stop
cable being lowered down a building?

I've been an electrician for 29 years, and a knot tier for a bit
longer still, and I've not heard of this, but then I guess it may be a
regional name. What country are you in?

..I've seen sparks using chain knot, to make a sennit and drop that over
the side of a building, preventing it snarling up halfway down in a
total rats nest. They didn't have a name for it though.
