Stuck in a rut
I don't wanna sew. Ok, so I want to, but that means I have to clean my
room first. Jeanne's gonna be here in about 2 weeks, and I'm freaking out about my sewing room....looks like a tornado hit it. I'm just getting over the flu....and well, aaaaaaaaaaaaack. Ok, feel better now, just had to get that out. -- Jenn/Jalynne navy Wife, homeschooling mom, 1st soprano in Tacoma Symphony Chorus beads, scrapbooks, quilts, cross stitch, and other obsessions http://100megsfree4.com/jalynne/ |

Hi Jalynne, All I can say is, Been there, felt like that. Just get in the
room and start making piles. Pretty soon you will be in the mode and get it all sorted out. Next get in touch with your fabrics, there that feels better too. Look for a project that is almost done and finish it to the next level. After this step you will be back on track. I hope this helps, Linda in Tx |

Ok, feel better now, just had to get that out. I know there are things you don't like about Flylady, Jalynne, but you can still borrow some of her best ideas and leave the rest. So, set your timer for 15 minutes, take a deep breath, and go in there and clean up until it goes ding. Then STOP. Have a cup of tea. Look at what you've done - wow! Isn't it much more than you thought you could do in 15 minutes. Do the same thing tomorrow. By the time Jeanne arrives you will have done 3.5hours of cleaning, but I bet you a fat quarter it won't take as long as all that. You'll probably be done before a week is out and then you have a whole clear week to do some sewing in your newly cleaned sewing room, so you'll have plenty to show-and-tell when she arrives. -- M Rimmer |

LOL, i think part of the problem is that I have too many almost done
projects lying around at the moment. It's ok...it's a cyclical thing...just wanted to put the feeling in black and white, because that generally motivates me. nana2b wrote: Hi Jalynne, All I can say is, Been there, felt like that. The best thing to do when youre stuck in a rut is put it in low gear and
eaaaase your way back out. Or, put the pedal to the metal and throw mud like crazy!!!! (you need a cold six pack in the back to do that one I think). Third option is to rock it, back and forth till you create enough forward momentum to carry yourself out. This technique works best if you are patient and skilled with a clutch. Good luck, J! Yep, I know it. But if I don't feel comfortable in my house (because
it's too messy for ME), then I won't be a good hostess...we won't get to play as much, and that'd be BAD news. So....I've been cleaning one room a day....upstairs is half done. Tuesday, i tackle the sewing room, and get to play all night because DH will be gone overnight on a flight mission. I was just in this situation. My sewing room was a disaster. I barely had a
walking path through the boxes and piles. I had been doing a lot of traveling for my job and doing lots for my DD and GS. I wanted to sew desperately, but didn't have any free time after working longs hours, trying to do things for the DH, DD and GS and keeping the house chores up to date plus trying to get my closets switched from fall/winter clothes to spring/summer clothes. And with the shape of my sewing room, I was even more frustrated. But I decided to take one weekend to myself. Nobody got any time from me (except to hug and kiss the baby!) for two days. Got my closets done, got my spare room cleaned out and redecorated into a guest room in time for my stepson to come home for leave from the Marines, got my sewing room cleaned out and organized. I arranged all of my projects in one place so I knew what had to be done to finish each one. The following week we left for vacation and I was able to finish 7 projects including several large quilts.
