Congratulations Cheryl. How nice to have rescued a starving kitty. I'm sure
he will work his way into your family's heart quickly.

I recently had to part with my darlin' ol' poddy cat Enness
http://pets.webshots.com/photo/14337...75796722WUGNNa
My consolation is that she was a rescue cat who was near
death over 17years ago and she had a long and happy life
with me.

Almost as if that mysterious cat telegraph had passed the
word that there was about to be a vacancy in my household,
about a month before Enness passed on a poor little stray
took shelter in my big shed, hiding from everything and
everyone and clearly starving slowly to death.

A few short months later I am pleased to report that
Rasputin has grown, put on weight, now has a lovely soft
full coat of fur and has sailed through that necessary
little operation that all domestic cats have to have. He
came home from the vet yesterday and was locked in the house
for the first time last night - not cause for panic but a
little stressful for him. When he went out this morning he
beat a quick retreat to his familiar shed, but he came
straight away when called tonight for dinner and walked into
the kitchen on his own for his meal. He is sleeping in the
shed ATM, but I am sure that as the weather gets colder he
will have no trouble adapting to life as a house cat. In
fact I woke last night to find that he had crept up and was
sleeping quite comfortable on the end of my bed . . . . . .
much to the disgust of Boof! However Boof and Donut seem to
be taking the newcomer in stride, and Rasputin, despite all
the unfamiliar confinement/handling/treatment, has not once
scratched or bitten.

No pictures yet, but he is a little sweety and he seems so
glad to have a home.

Congratulations on the new child, Cheryl!;-) Funny how those jungle drums
send the message out to all the kitties, isn't it?

Junior cats seem to instinctively recognise who is in charge, and when
they join a 'pride' they know their place. It's surprising how quickly a
new cat is accepted. Mia did the submissive bit so was accepted straight
away, whereas Kiwi hadn't listened to the lessons on body language and
kept waving a paw at Hodge which wasn't appreciated. However Kiwi soon
learned his place and now we have a happy cat family.

Hodge is definitely chief cat and takes his seniority very seriously.
Mia always reports to him when she comes in, and any cheekiness from
Kiwi is quickly sorted. If another cat comes into the garden it is Hodge
who tells it to go in no uncertain terms while the other too stand back
and watch.

We now call him Uncle Hodge!

I am sure that Rasputin will be grateful to be accepted by the others
and quickly find his place as junior cat!

So glad, Cheryl! I hope Rasputin keeps settling in. I wish I were a
multi-cat household again..........

Oh, Cheryl, I'm *delighted* that you've found another QI to nurture and
train in the ways of QI-ing! Congratulations!

Carolyn, there are 4 cute little kittens here. Eyes have opened and Mama
is still being Mama. But in a month or so they will be up for adoption.

I've just been listening to the 101 Dalmatians audio book, and this
reminds me of the Twilight Barking. Perhaps there is a Dawn Miaouwing?
