Default What new projects are you starting now?

Now that the holidays are nearly over and everyone should have a little more
free time, what projects are everyone starting? I only have one Christmas UFO
to finish, and one general UFO after that, so I can feel totally justified in
having fun with some new projects. My thoughts are running to a Hardanger
cushion from a recent Mary Hickmott's New Stitches magazine (I can tell
Hardanger is going to become a major obsession for me), and/or a blackwork
cushion from a summer issue of the same magazine.

I didn't get any stitching-related gifts for either holiday (we celebrate
Christmas and Chanukah here, which means I've had no time to stitch too!), but
fortunately before the holidays I treated myself to the two things I wanted the
most, a DMC Sweetpea Flower Fairies kit and a DMC peonies ready-made bag kit,
which I'm thinking of making for my mother's birthday in February, so those are
possibilities too.

I just put the misty blue linen on my scroll bars for Stan The Wizard - it's
a 9-page booklet and I've never done a pattern like that before - just hope
I'm starting in the right spot.

I'm getting ready to start on an Anne Powell design "United We Stand". I'm
trying to decide which Silkweaver fabric to use. I'm addicted to their
handpainted fabrics and I pretty much use them exclusively.

I'm also getting ready to start one of the Miribilia mermaids.

Are you starting in the middle? Looking at that picture, I'd definitely try
to start somewhere in the middle - maybe with the little bit of blue peeking
out. I guess the alternative would be to start at the very top - and work
your way down. It's a cute design.

Hope you made a set of working copies to mark on - especially if you need to
put in any "adjustments" . I always make some kind of note if I do a stitch
in a different color and aren't going to rip-it - that way it doesn't screw
up the rest of my counting.

I'm sure you'll have fun! I don't know what I'm picking up next. Maybe
another UFO - or I'll start another piece out of stash.

My major project, which I have been working at all day, is to sort out and
classify all my charts, file them in the filing cabinet (new) and make
database in Excel, and enter them. I am about 95% completed, and am tired.
I am purging out some that I will NEVER use, and am posting them on the
Cross-stitch Auction. I did the same last night with some of the fabric in
32 ct, which I can't see. By New Year, I hope to be completely organised.
Well, it is a nice dream anyway!! With luck somebody will buy up my surplus
at a cheap price, and I can use the extra dollars for MORE stash!!

When I did Fire & Ice, I made copies & taped them all together, and
gridded the fabric, numbered the rows one way, lettered them the other
way, and STILL got lost sometimes(!)

3 - 4 on the 11th January)) Isn't it lovely ?
Need to get some suitable fabric though (plenty of threads ) probably on
line as I live in a village a long , long way from a suitable fabric
ource - may try on sheeting ? What will you use ?

I am going to be starting an embroidery project, a cloth book. Have
been wanting to stitch something for the expected grandchild but
nothing caught my eye, just couldn't find the right project until....
Was browsing in the needlework magazines and low and behold in Issue
39 of Inspirations magazine is the perfect project. A cloth book
featuring a little french mouse by the name of Monet. There is a
pattern for a cloth book bag to go with it. I am only going to do the
book and will set a deadline for xmas 2004. Also working on the
blackwork mermaid.
Will be taking a weekend workshop with Linda Lachance, canvas work
piece, stained glass Irises in March. Will probably take me the rest
of the year to finish the project. LOL!

I'm just finishing up a small picture for the bathroom -- doing
backstitching tonight -- and then will get started on "Listen to your
Heart" -- a pretty nature picture. Trying to do some of these quicker
projects I've been putting off before I start anything major.
