Default Update on Joe: on and off topic.

We did a flit to the Frozen North on Friday: I am happy to report that
my very dear FIL's 'replacement hinge therapy' has gone well, and he
should be going home tomorrow. He looked and sounded well, and though
the bruising LOOKS alarming, it is fading well, and he can walk without
his crutches a good part of the time. He's getting daily physio, and
his colour and spirits are good. The op was done with an epidural
rather than a GA, and he said it was like listening to heavy duty
carpentry! He's a true engineer at heart - he said he'd like to have
seen how they did the op, so he could see how his bionic knee was fitted!

I managed a little fabric therapy at Dainty Supples, and bought LOTS of
thread: they had a sale basket of all sorts of things that have
obviously been discovered at the back of some warehouse - old fashioned
reels of Coats thread labeled in 1000's of YARDS first rather than
metres! it all seems good and sound, and I thought the cotton thread
would be good for using on the old hand cranks and treadles.

It was a rather rapid trip, as we set off at almost six pm, and left
again this am to call in on friends in Yorkshire on the way down.
England seems to be in the grip of some rather boring and ordinary
weather - thank God! Clear roads all the way up and back, and the few
sets of roadworks did not hold us up. I'm looking forward to getting
back to some form of normality tomorrow... rats! The builders will be
back! They removed and replaced the soil stack on Friday (no lavatory
for most if the day! Thank God for Auntie-Mo-Next-Door!), and had
scaffolding up for that and to replace the soffat boards above where the
new conservatory will go. Tomorrow they will probably start the
foundations.

So glad to hear that your FIL's replacement went so well!

Best wishes to all of you from Tucson!
