Midgett's book demonstrates the ends of the bar being forged to short tapered points at the ends, then the ring tapers being overlapped, one directly over theother, on the ring mandrel. The ring is soldered, and finally forged into final shape. He also mentions cutting ends into curves where curves in the patterns at the two ends almost match. It all depends on the pattern. -- mbstevens http://www.mbstevens.com |
