Default Ice cream ball.

Remember the ice cream ball I had so much trouble with through Groupon?
I did get my money back, and DD Cathy got one for me in UK.

I returned a week ago from my trip (see alt.beenz for details if wanted)
and last evening we tried out the ball with the little DGSs. It took
longer than necessary to make the ice cream, because there wasn't enough
ice, and Dil went out to buy more to supplement it. The 2 little boys
played rolling it to each other, until the 2½yr old was tired, then the
older one, Luke, carried on with his father. They had fun, but I was
amazed at how long he continued at his age, 4 3/4, and eventually the
ice cream was made.

The result was delicious, and I hope they'll take the trouble to do it
now and then.

So how did you find old Blighty ??

Here's the report as posted on alt.beenz:

I returned a week ago from my trip to the UK. Cathy paid for it as a
very special 80th birthday present!

I flew with Emirates, which has very good food, though it is a very long
journey via Dubai. Cathy met me at Gatwick, and after leaving the car
at the hotel we went whizzing around London, Cathy pushing me in a
wheelchair! Public transport is really advisable, and we were able to
get the chair onto buses easily. I can walk, but not far, and the
distances were great! Poor Cathy was worn out!

We went to the Children's museum, as I'd always wanted to see the doll's
houses, and they were well worth seeing. Cathy put a couple of photos
on Facebook at the time.

After spending the night in London, we headed up to Merseyside, where we
had a Malaizian (I think)dinner with nephews, a grandniece and a friend.
Next morning we went to see an old school friend, Cathy's Godmother,
and then off to Wales.

I didn't mention that after heatwaves the week before, we had snow!
Luckily, we weren't inconvenienced by the roads which had been closed
because of the snow, or the one we travelled, which had been closed
because a ferry had run aground! No, the ferry didn't land on the road,
which was blocked by rubberneckers! We went to Anglesey, and drove past
several places I'd lived in while evacuated during THE war.

Then we went to Yorkshire, where Cathy and Vladi are living. I saw a
bit of Yorkshire, which included a trip to see an old college friend.

Cathy has been carrying on with ancestry searching, begun by cousins in
Oz, and a get-together had been arranged for my maternal relatives to
meet fairly centrally. It was great meeting distant cousins, including
one whose GM was sister to my GF. There were 19 0f us, which included a
few spouses. Of course there were photos, and I was amazed to see one
of someone more distant, who was very like a close cousin who didn't
look like anyone in the family!

The last week there Cathy and I went to the Scottish highlands on a
coach tour, which was very enjoyable. Poor Vladi didn't have a chance
to go anywhere with us, because of his work on the farm. We had a good
time in Scotland, with friendly people, and very good evening
entertainment. We saw quite a lot of the mountains, where skiing had
been available, though we didn't actually see any skiers. It's awesome
scenery, (with snow)and we had to admire the ability of the bus drivers,
though Cathy has done some bus-driving before, so knows more about it.

The day after our return, We had to go off to London for me to get the
plane back, another 20 hour journey, plus the preliminaries and arrival
chores! It was worth it, though!
