Beading Lessons

One of the crafty women in the building I live in asked me to teach her to
bead. She crochets, knits, does collage and ceramics and even paints, but
she had no experience with the tiny little jewels we are all addicted to.

She has come over the last 3 evenings and I taught her spiral stitch, which
she didn't really like and flat even-count peyote. Last night she finished a
peyote bracelet with toggle clasps and proudly wore it home. Tonight we're
going to try netting.

I forgot how much fun it was to get another one hooked!

How fun! I can't understand anyone not liking the raised spiral. That was
the first thing I learned, and I still love it!

Oh well, I'll never get the hang of following a peyote pattern that's not
more than a few beads across! No peyote amulet bags for this girl unless
it's something really simple!

That sounds like soooo much fun. I don't have anyone to be with or anyone
that's interested in learning. They only want the end result...made by me.

Plus, you are having fun making friends with your new neighbors!!! I
remember when I lived in Ohio and beaded at the pool in the summer --
I had to keep bringing things for the kids to make, so they could all
play too. A lot of fun. Thanks for the story and the memories!!!
