Default (Partially OT) It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like....

So....Thanksgiving is officially over and, in an effort to make the month of
December a little quieter (since the calendar is quite full), I've been
organizing for Christmas. I have two semi-large quilts to label still (I
always leave that for last) and then wrap. I have a 58 inch square Diamond
In A Square for DS in blue, purple and red. I don't know if he'll use it as
a throw or a wall hanging but I'm pleased how that came out. I have a Star
Quilt for DD and SIL in blues, reds and greens. It is 48 inches square and
that will be a wall hanging (I even have a sleeve on the back). They are
having their basement finished into a playroom and it can either hang there
or in her living room. (By the way - the playroom SHOULD be finished by
Christmas - the finish date was promised for October 1st. Anyone care to
place a bet?).

On the OT side, I have to start making dough for cookies but that will come
later this week. I also need to wrap and label gifts. My cards are out so
now it's just a matter of seeing who I didn't send to that sends me one.
And we got our tree the other day and it's up and decorated. The puppy
thinks it's great we finally got indoor plumbing.

Happy Prep Time for whatever you celebrate this month!!

Ack! I'm so far behind it's pathetic! We don't decorate quite this
early, so that's okay. However, I haven't started my baking, which is
usually finished by now. I also haven't even bought cards yet, and some
need to go abroad. Gifts are barely started; wrapping them is always a
chore I detest, though now I generally use gift bags to simplify that.
I've *got* to get into the mood! Why am I not feeling the spirit of the
season yet????

We try hard not to decorate before Christmas Eve... And then only do
the living room. But we will have guests the weekend before Christmas
this year, so we may put stuff up a little early.

I have about half the Christmas presents collected, a couple to make,
and we are doing the big Christmas Present Buying shop this week. I
have all the cards and wrapping paper... Got some lovely plain red
stuff in IKEA, so all my parcels this year will be very tasteful scarlet
with gold bows!

I also started the Christmas cooking... Got six (Yes, SIX!) Chocolate
Christmas Cakes (as per recipe on my web site: one and a half times the
quantity makes 2 6" and 4 7" cakes. I think I'll make the marzipan
tonight...

I have puddings, golden Christmas cakes and stollen to do. I think I
might experiment and make chocolate stollen this year, just for fun!

I also want to make shortbread. Don't need to make mincemeat this year
as I made a ton a couple of years back, and we still have six jars in
store... I also have rumtopf and slow gin to bottle up for the family.
Boozy evening some time soon! It all has to be done by the 10th, when
we hope to do our annual trip that FIL calles 'taking Kate's Red Cross
parcels to the Frozen North!' I *MUST* get the puddings done, as mine
is the only one MIL will eat! And I need to forage in the back of the
store cupboard in the lean-to and track down the cranberry sauce. I
made a lot in January when the cranberries were cheap. Talk about
getting ahead with the preparations!

Oh, how my mind zig-zags. First I just whooped about Nana's pup thinking the
Christmas tree was, finally, indoor plumbing. I remember our Yorkie's first
Christmas and we didn't even dare try to put up a tree. Then - the brain
zigged to: maybe I better warn my family members who have puppy Yorkies (two
of them) that a small tree up high is a good idea. And, then, the brain
zagged over to: what did we do with our Black Rose? (She has a Yorkie too).
When have we heard from her? Polly

Hi folks, pardon my barging in, but I'm wondering if anyone has heard
anything from "Black Rose"? She used to be very active in the bicycling
group and haven't heard anything from her, (including an email to her
'netscape.net' account.)

Anybody know anything? I'm a bit concerned she's had a biking accident or
something. Do we know if this addy is invalid, and if so, what is her real
one?

Sorry for the intrusion, and don't mean to alarm anyone.

Best,

-Badger
