arrived today from Wendy Johnson of Wendy Knits blog. It's Trekking XXL, a
100 gm ball, 75% wool 25% nylon. Follow the link for a picture. Can't wait
to start on some socks! ;)

The word is that the pattern makes them not as stretchy as normal socks,
so you don't want to make them with the usual 10% negative ease.
Either do an extra pattern repeat (more stitches) or use bigger
needles (to get a looser gauge).

I haven't made them myself.

For me, this would be a good thing. I have small feet (size 6), and usually
have to make the pattern smaller. That's why I usually use the same plain
pattern and a variegated yarn, casting on only 68 stitches or less, using
2.25 mm needles. If I don't use less stitches, the socks can tend to bag on
me. I also find that throwing them in the dryer helps too.

Thanks for the info, I'll keep an eye out for how they will fit, and report
back. I thought it would be fun to try something different. ;)

Yes, I've seen and heard about those infamous socks before, I admire
your ability to make those. They'll be beautiful. Let us know how it
goes.

Well, let's not be too sure about my ability to make them yet. I'll give it
a try and see how it goes. (grin).

Many of Nancy Bush's sock patterns (in Vintage Socks and Folk Socks I
think) are smallish - she has a small foot too.

Have any of you seen the gorgeous entrelac socks on Eunny Jongs
blog? I think it's called See Eunny Knit. That pattern has me in as
much awe as the Pomotomus socks!
