Default Anyone using Stitchbow?

That is so sad and such an investment if you went ahead and did the whole lot.
I have heard the floss falls off the bow. Is that the problem?

Is anyone in here using the Stitchbow system?

I tried it, and decided I don't like it, and have alot of the
"pieces". I'll send them off to anyone who is using it, or who would
like to try it, just to get them out of my way.

DH tried them and didn't like them either. Thank goodness I had been
able to talk him into trying the bows out before buying the whole
system. He got one package of ten stitchbows, didn't like how the
skeins were constantly falling off (rayon floss falls off a loop at a
time mangling the skein totally) and then decided to try the Thread
Bed system. The Stitchbows aren't going to waste though. He is going
to use the Stitchbows to help him get the skeins into the pockets of
that system.

I love my stitchbows. I even put my Kreinik on them.

To keep the thread from unwinding, I just pull it through the slot in
the middle, and wrap it around a couple of times.

Tje slot I refer to is the place between the length of the stitchbow and
the part of it on which you slide the band.

As for the "pages," if you keep them folded, the floss won't fall out.

The only thing about the system I didn't like was the storage boxes. I
now have binders, and 5 storage boxes looking for a new home!

I absolutely LOVE my stitch bow system!!

I had been looking everywhere for anything that would keep my supplies
organized and easier to carry when I would want to take a project on the
road. I found exactly what I wanted when I was on vacation in Ill a year or
so ago at a Hobby Lobby Store. I wish I had a Hobby Lobby locally!!

From that travel bag I have gotten almost all the accessories that go with
it. The only thing I am missing is the storage boxes. I was so excited
about my find at the time, that I just bought up enough of the "pages" to
store my floss in numerical order. Boy was that an all day
job.....literally!! I just didn't take the time to realize there was a
storage box for floss.

Now I have floss that I have bought since filling up my pages that have no
place in my stitch bow system. I don't even want to think about moving all
the previous floss around to make room for the new colors - and even then I
would still have some left over since I have more floss than slots in my
pages. So I am vowed to myself to not even mess with it until I get the
storage boxes.

In the beginning I stored each color floss in individual "snack size"
ziplock baggies which were just thrown in a draw of my craft stand (which
was torture to find a specific color!!), and when I would want to take my
project on the road, I would pull out my trusty, handy dandy, gallon size
ziplock baggie! So granted, anything is an upgrade from that!! I tried the
"bobbin" method (between the baggies and stitchbow) - but all that did was
crease the floss every time it would bend around the end of those "bobbins"
(which was a very fertile breeding ground for knots when stitching a
project), and the ends created a tangled mess with each other in a QUICK
hurry!

All this comes from a very dedicated Xstitch addict. So this whole
stitchbow system was like a gift from God!!!!!!!! So to answer your
question? Yes, I do use the stitchbow system. Yes, I do LOVE my stitchbow
system. And there is NOTHING (and I do mean NOTHING) in the world that
could make me part with it!!!!

Actually, these are the only two people I've ever heard liking the stitch
bows.

If I could find Anchor thread anywhere closer than three hours away - I'd be
in heaven. I don't buy floss off the Internet because I need to see it in
person. Pictures just aren't the same color as the real thing.

Hey Ruthie, where in CO are you? Could you at least tell me the
region? I'm living in MS now, but I grew up in CO and really want to
get back! The rest of my immediate family still live in CO--father in
Delta (if you know where that is), brothers in Grand Junction, and
another brother in Fort Collins. Spring has come to MS (though a bit
cool right now), but I'd still rather put up with the snow in CO.

Hi, Suzanne:

Spring *seems* to be here, too, but we won't be sure til the begining of
June! This time of year, it's "Don't like the weather? wait a minute!"
I've been here since '89, and can remember snow both on Memorial Day,
and Labor Day. And an april blizzard that snowed us in for 3 days, a few
years back, when we were living on the north side of the Palmer Divide.

I'm not too far from your brother: near Greeley.

Our 5 acres of irrigated hay wouild love to put up with snow. So would
I. It's been a pretty dry winter.

Isn't there some kind of quilting thing in Estes Park in June there? My DF
wanted to go but the hotels were all booked up with a quilting thing. Of
course, he didn't know to tell me if it was a show, a retreat or what....so
now I am curious!

But his favorite place to go see (and where he was thinking about moving)
was Grand Junction..... So it seems to be CO is a place to yearn for!
