Anne Arundel County (MD) Fair is Next Week
This will be the first time I've entered a county fair competition. I'll
be entering, "Enroute", "Purple Pansies on Parade", "Delta Pure Red Pansies" and "Sparky's Eyes". I'm pretty excited about this. So excited, that I have kept looking at the County Fair catalog just to make sure I don't miss the entry date (which is this coming Sunday). I even made a dry-run excursion to the fairgrounds, because I'd never been there before. I wanted to make sure I wouldn't get lost!! So, wish me luck! I'll let you know how well I fare at the fair! Debbie Congratulations for entering. I try to enter something almost every year if I am free on the entry day. Good luck, BUT keep in mind that the county fair judges may or may not know anything about needlework other than liking it or not liking it, so the judging may seem a little lop sided. :-)) Every time I enter something, I remind myself that I am doing it 1) to get free admission to the fair (for entering three items) and 2) to show people that there are other kinds of stitching than quick kits from Michaels or Walmart. :-)) If I win, I feel great, but if I lose, I'm not devastated. :-)) Liz from Humbug |

Hi Liz!
Thanks for your encouragement. Whether or not I win really doesn't matter that much to me (well, maybe just a little bit!). I just want people to see my work! Unfortunately, according to the fair rulebook, competitors , other than 4-H members, don't get free admission. The prizes aren't big, either. I think the best in show, in any category is $25 I'm also looking forward to seeing the other entries, and maybe even buy some home-grown honey and other stuff. I had a feeling that if there were going to be any ribbons, that "Purple Pansies on Parade" would win one. But to be honest with you, I wouldn't have guessed that "True American Heroes" would have won. I thought I'd get something for "Sparky's Eyes" or "Delta Pure Red Pansies" (which they displayed on its side for some reason). Just goes to show ya never know what the judges like!!! Congrats on your first show, Debbie!
