Flynn Quilt Frame
I have been looking into this product as an inexpensive frame to do
stippling on quilts. Does anyone have any experience with this? |

Just remember that since you move the whole frame under the machine, you
need to have a frame's length free on each side of the machine. With table under it to help support the frame on "rollers" (chunks of PVC pipe). Seems to be a reasonable way to go if you have the room. Pati, in Phx Boca Jan wrote: I have been looking into this product as an inexpensive frame to do stippling on quilts. I have heard only negative reviews about the Flynn Frame, however, I
understand he has made improvements & I think he has made the frame larger, so you don't have to stop every 5 minutes to reposition the quilt in the frame, which would be a PITA for me. If you have an opportunity to go to one of the larger quilt shows, he is often there demonstrating & you could try it out to see if it is a good fit for you. IIRC The last time I looked I thought it was a good deal until I realized just how much I'd have to buy at the hardware store to complete the frame and set-up for use. Thank you for your well wishes ladies. It is two weeks yesterday and I
am feeling like there is a light at the end of the tunnel. The only "bad" part of the experience has been an inability to swallow. Good news is I lost 15 pounds. LOL No headaches since the surgery - that is fantastic! Just what we were going for. It has been nice getting cards and squishies. Thank you all and you know who. I have a Flynn frame and I think it's a great deal for the money - I
have a long dining room table with just enough room on either end for the entire set up, and if you have a sewing machine with a decent sized harp, you can really go to town. You have to stop often to wind the pvc pipes, and the bean bag (I use the neck warmer I already have) is essential. As long as you enjoy free motion quilting, this frame is also great for getting rid of the need to baste (I usually have to do it on my hands and knees). With the standard frame, up to a double size is easy and I'm glad I bought mine. Spent about 150.00 in all, which I can afford when compared to a real long arm! Musicmaker |

When the frame is demonstrated at the shows it is always with a rather
small quilt. That works but I question using it on a larger quilt. I would like to see it at the show on a large quilt. I purchased one a number of years ago and for me it turned out to be a big waste of my money. I am not saying that it will not work for you. I just found it akward to use. juliasb |
