Default where can I get filigree disks?

The Feb/March edition of Beadwork has instructions for a bow brooch and
part of the material list for both sizes mention "2 oval filigree disks".
I have been through four mail order suppliers on line, eg Beadbox, FMG,
Shipwreck and looked in my Rio Grande catalogue.

They have filigree sterling silver but these disks are a backing and
surely the above suppliers would keep up with trends and brooches are very
popular right now.A cheap source is needed.

Any help is appreciated,
Cheers, JanNZ

Unfortunately, a lot of the big suppliers don't seem to be on top of
this trend. I have been searching high and low. The few I've found
are in the $6-$10 range, each. I've been experimenting with window
screen and wire, but it is still in the experimental stage.

I am going to the Intergalactic Bead Show the first weekend in Feb. I
will keep my eyes open. I know many people would like these! I will
also let you know if I find them online for a decent price.

Thank you both Sooz and KatieW. I found the disk used for the Beadwork
brooch on page 5 of Sooz's lead. Second to last item. I am sure others
will be interested.

Katie, I went into the address below, then clicked on Filigrees, under
categories. Another page has been added since I looked and it is on page
6. There are only 2 items there and it is called " Victorian style "

Hope this helps,

Jan:

oh, ok! I was thinking you meant something else all together! What I
thought you were looking for was a brooch form: a rounded mesh form
that attaches to a solid base with a pin backing; I've seen them in
round, square, oval, and wreath shapes.

www.bobbybead.com has a bunch of filigree shapes, both in base metal
and in silver plate. Flowers, ovals, squares, diamonds, marquis, etc
etc. If you see things that you like on their site, let me know. I
would happily go get them with my wholesale discount and send them to
you. 20% better price, no tax, and better shipping.

Katie -

I'm looking to order some supplies for a project because I can't get them
locally. Bobbybead seems to have everything I need for it. I assume you've
received pretty good service from them? (I'm not asking you for any special
favors - just a recommendation.)

Katie, thank you for your offer. I went onto Bobby bead and looked at the
shapes and realised that I have some of those shapes with holes and pin
backing. They were given to me and I never thought about how to use
them but they could work for the brooch or similar ideas.

So I won't take up your offer but thank you. I am back to full time work
tomorrow so my lovely lazy summer days are over. Here in NZ we finally
have decent summer weather.

Cheers, JanNZ
