"Dannielle" wrote .. Isn't the adhesive really bad for the fabric? I thought it yellowed the fabric over time and destroyed the piece. It certainly used to be, and I have a piece with a brown splotch to prove it!! But the newer boards claim to be acid free, so maybe the reformulated ones will be safer for long term use. Dawne My mom has a piece of mine that was framed using the adhesive board and I've noticed that over time (17 years) it has slowly yellowed a bit. It's not splotchy but has just turned the white fabric an ecru color. At the time we were forced to frame the piece using the adhesive board because it was "the way it's done" at the time and fair judges would barely look at a piece done any other way. A lot of my early cross-stitch pieces suffered from the whims of fair judges. Glass, no glass. Adhesive board, stitch & stretch. Frame with spacers, frame without. Aggh! It's amazing anything I did in the 70s-80s has lasted. I have one piece of a carousel horse hanging in my (mostly unused) bathroom. It's in a metal frame without glass and is butted right up against the frame. The more I look at it, the more I think, "God is that frame job UGLY!!" So, I just have to find the time and appropriate framer to have it redone. That is if I ever get over not liking the piece cause it's framed so badly. Long rambling story cut short... I could do a lot of my own framing using adhesive boards but won't cause, to this day, I don't really truely trust them. And I don't do my own stretching cause I don't trust myself! I'll pay good money to someone who truely knows what they're doing... but first they have to prove it to me. --- Holly K.
