"Marine Carving Handbook", Jay S. Hanna, International Marine Publishing
Company, co1975, ISBN 0-87742-052-1

"Figureheads & Ship Carvings at Mystic Seaport", Edouard A.
Stackpole,The Marine Historical Association, Inc., co1964, ISBN ???

Both probably out of print, but may be available on eBay or Abebooks.
