We had great fun doing swaps, making bracelets, necklaces and
exchanging *them. Also had a wand swap.
Then we had BFNR ( beads for no reason) when we sent a package of
beads *to someone we thought needed when.
*I actually got the first package but it really was for a reason that
time. It was when I had the 6 stents put in my heart.
The card said From our hearts to your heart. I still have it and also
still a lot of the beads that came with it. Some are in jewellery and
other I still fondle.
*We had a Shirley's Spoon club whereby I used to send an antique salt
or *mustard spoon used for scooping up beads. I used to enclosed them
in *parcels. I would get them from antique fairs.
*How I wish that those day were back but I doubt if they ever will
be.
*I have a RCB gallery of peoples photos over my work bench and I can
look *up and see them every day.

I sure can elate to that!

I started to get at my beads last March or April. You know, time to
use it or lose it.

Actually, I got a whole pile of necklaces done. About 60 or 70 done!
Some are wonderful, but some are just done so that my supplies get
used. Most don't have near as much silver as I've used in the past.
Of course, I also figure that I can get more silver and restring them
later too.

But when I say "done", I mean they are strung. Most of them don't have
clasps, and only a few have descriptions and prices. And that doesn't
include the next step of actually selling them either!

But since mid April I've been battling gov't and insurance agencies
for Pete's disability. :-( Damn, if you're disabled it's impossible
to jump through all the hoops to get benefits or medical care.

What a hard decision!

Those pain decisions often have no good solution. I wish the docs
would give Pete stronger meds, but on the other hand getting rid of
the pain leaves very little self-awareness sometimes. Whatever you
decide, Shirley, my prayers are with you.

Well it is morning now and I have just struggled to get up.

I too have done many crafts in the past and am trying to get rid of some
of the things I have. I know I shall never do some of them anymore.

Since my health as deteriorated over the last 18 months. Been rushed in
hospital 5 times with heart problems. I have another cross to bear.

The results of my MRI scan two weeks ago showed that I have a bulging
disc in my spine in the lumber region. That is the cause of the
excruciating back and leg pains I have been suffering for 10 months.
The only solution is surgery but alas my heart may not stand up to it.
A tough decision to make, risk my life or be in pain for the rest of it.
I have been to an osteopath but he cannot help me.

So I keep myself busy with Genealogy and occasional beadwork.

your lampwork?

Where is Beadfx, geographically? OK, I checked. Scarborough. We
really do need LBSs (Local Bead Stores), even though we can get most
of our needs met on line for cheaper. If we don't patronize them we
won't have them when we need them.

What kind of dogs do you have? Ours is a 17 year old Queensland
Heeler. What a crazy, bite-y dog!

We used to be really active, more than a 1000 posts at one time.
We had great fun doing swaps, making bracelets, necklaces and exchanging

Yes - I have experienced that too. Even in a sunlight room. Burned the
snot out of everything. That's why I like my darkened cave!

The "mood" stuff was big in the 70's - my understanding is that it is
a heat sensitive liquid crystal. You see the same thing available as a
level indicator for propane tanks (magnetic strip - stick to the tank
- pour hot water along it - where the colour change is indicates the
level in the tank) and wine temp indicators. In the 70's - it was made
into cheap and nasty jewelry that indicated your mood - black = cold,
brown, warming - yada yada blue = passionate. Hey - it was the 70's.

These beads are current - and are nice quality - nice and shiny and
the colour change is very dramatic. Because of the science involved -
I don't believe there are any that have more controlled colour
changes.

For just two-colour changes - there are the colour shift glasses - but
they don't respond to body temperature - just different types of light
- usually sunlight vs indoor light.

I'm a big fan of the science behind the bead!

Yeah, I remember the mood rings. They never had very good colors.
And these beads look nice, but I like having more control of the
colours in a composition than a range from purple through to orange!
What colour shift beads are there besides the "alexandrite"? I'd love
something in the blue green range but have never seen that.

I didn't know about the propane tank level indicators. And you say
they use that technology for wind-chill? Fairbanks, and especially my
place, has very little wind, so I've never really paid much attention
to that. But you get that nasty wind off Lake Superior in
Scarborough, don't you.
