John,

thanks for the education..., you should have noticed by now I live in
Cairns. I know that time zones are determined by longitudes, not the
hemispheres. However, countries like Germany belong to the Northern
Hemisphere and have night, when we have day, right? That's why so many
people do relate rather to north and south than longitudes.

Hi Sibille,

I did take a look at your web site and noted you were in Oz, and I
was wondering where. One of these years I'd love to get a proper look
at Cairns. (I'm in Brisbane.) All that reef and stuff and I've
never had a good look at it.

The confusion comes from thinking of a country on the other side of the
world. To simplify things: Korea is in the Northern Hemisphere but
they have day at essentially the same time you do. But they are in
winter now while you are in summer.
